Creating and Editing Text
Add readable embroidery lettering and adjust the text options supported by each object.
Add embroidery lettering
- Select Text in Draw and click the placement point.
- Enter Text content in Objects. New lettering uses the embroidery font Open Satin Medium; choose another Font when the selector is available.
- Choose Stitch style → Satin or Running stitch, then set Font size and Letter spacing.
- Choose a Text style, recalculate, and inspect the stitch preview.
Observe the selected font’s recommended size range. Missing characters use a fallback glyph, and uppercase-only fonts use uppercase forms for lowercase input. The lettering object remains editable after saving and reopening its project.
Straight, Arc, and monogram layouts
- Straight supports multiple lines, Left/Center/Right alignment, and Line spacing (%).
- Arc uses Arc angle (°): positive bends upward and negative bends downward. Use a single line.
- Classic Monogram uses Center initial size (%) to enlarge the middle initial in single-line lettering with at least three characters.
- Magnifier enlarges letters toward Beginning, Center, or End using Magnify at and Maximum letter size (%). Use a single line.
Text following a path
- Draw an open path, then select the text object.
- Choose Text style → Path and select the source in Follow path.
- Adjust Start position (%) and Baseline offset, or drag the text on the canvas.
- Resolve any missing-path message. Text can extend past the path endpoint; shorten it, reduce its size or spacing, or lengthen the path when you want it to stay within the drawn curve.
Path lettering uses a single line. Keep the linked path in the project so the text can continue to follow its geometry.
Text from older projects
Legacy system-font text retains its system Font and Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strike-out controls. Choose Convert to embroidery lettering to use the current embroidery layouts. Legacy embroidery fonts can be converted with Convert to Open Satin Medium. Save a copy before conversion and review the resulting lettering.
Keep lettering sewable
Small letters can collapse into short stitches and dense corners. Use a simpler font, increase size or spacing, avoid very fine strokes, and check counters inside letters. Resizing text like another object also changes its embroidery scale, so revisit density and Max. stitch length.
