Exporting Machine Embroidery Files

Follow a checked DST, PES, JEF, or EXP export workflow.

Supported exports

Sew Editor exports DST, PES, JEF, and EXP. Confirm that the receiving machine or software supports the chosen format, hoop, and design limits.

Export in order

  1. Open Ready and confirm hoop fit and current stitch calculation.
  2. Review short stitches, density, travels, finishing, color changes, and thread-label warnings.
  3. Export a Production Sheet and Thread Chart when the operator needs color or job references.
  4. Choose the machine format and export the current generated stitches.
  5. Review the validation preview that opens after export.

Bean, Repeated Run, and E / Blanket calculate ordinary stitch sequences before export; they require no special machine-format command and use the same supported export workflow. DST stores stitch movement and color-change stops, not exact RGB thread colors. PES, JEF, and EXP also have format-, version-, and machine-specific limits. Unlabeled thread metadata does not block export, but it makes production handoff less clear.
