Groups, Layers, and Stitch Order

Organize the Objects tree and control the sequence that affects colors and travel.

Read the Objects panel

Objects shows the design structure and order. SVG imports, image traces, and multi-object library entries may appear as groups. Expand or collapse a group to understand its contents without changing the design.

Group and sequence

  1. Select related objects and use Group selected objects when they should transform together.
  2. Use Ungroup selected group when children require individual editing that is not available through the group.
  3. Use Move Up, Move Down, Move Topmost, or Move Bottommost in Order to change sequence.
  4. Recheck overlaps, color changes, and object-to-object travel.

Object order is also stitch order. A visually identical rearrangement can change travel distance, trims, and repeated thread stops. Merge or arrange colors only when it preserves the intended overlap and sewing sequence.
