Getting Started with Sew Editor

Learn the browser-based online embroidery editor workflow from first artwork to production output.

What Sew Editor does

Sew Editor is a browser-based embroidery editor online. It turns artwork into editable embroidery objects, previews calculated stitches, checks common production concerns, and exports supported machine files. It does not remove the need to review a design or test-stitch important work.

Choose a starting point

Open the editor and use the start screen. Import SVG opens vector artwork; Import Image traces JPG, JPEG, PNG, or WebP artwork; Open Project restores an .embproj; Load Sample Design provides practice artwork; and Draw manually starts with an empty canvas.

Your first design

  1. Start a design with one of the buttons above.
  2. Import artwork, trace an image, draw, or insert an editable item from Shape Library.
  3. Select and arrange objects, then adjust their colors and applicable stitch settings.
  4. Open Ready and review hoop fit, thread metadata, stitches, travels, and finishing.
  5. Save an .embproj as the editable master.
  6. Export a Production Sheet or Thread Chart when useful, then export the required machine format and review validation.
